It is recommended that an interested candidate for training consult with their local police department to determine if their Youth Aid Panel is in need of additional panel members. If it is determined that additional trainees are needed, the candidate will be referred to the Lancaster County Youth Aid Panel coordinator to arrange for an interview.
During the interview, the candidate will be informed about the benefits of the Youth Aid Panel program and the mandatory requirements of training. If the candidate wishes to proceed with training, they will be issued an applicant's packet.
The Applicant's Packet
The applicant is required to complete an
applicant's packet. The application process is fully explained in the application packet. Applicants are required to provide three references from within their own community, apply for a child line clearance, and undergo a police criminal history records check.
Training is mandatory, and requires five consecutive nightly sessions. Training is generally in the evening from 6 - 9 p.m.
