Library Services

Lancaster County residents can obtain a free library card and borrow books from the library. Because Shuts is part of the Lancaster County Library System, card holders from any Lancaster County Library can use their card at Shuts.

Returns

Patrons can return to Shuts Library books that were borrowed from other Lancaster County Libraries, and they can return books from Shuts to any Lancaster County Library.

Patrons can borrow videos for one week and all other materials, including books, for two weeks. A late fee will be charged for each day an item is returned after its due date. To extend an item's due date, simply call the Lancaster County Library System's Automated Renewal hotline anytime day or night at 717-394-1721.

Applying for a Library Card

Applying for a library card is easy. Simply print an application in Spanish or English, and then mail the completed application to the Shuts Environmental Library. For faster service, stop in with your application and use your card that same day.
