"GFOA's Awards for Excellence in Government Finance recognize innovative programs - contributions to the practice of government finance that exemplify outstanding financial management. The awards stress practical, documented work that offers leadership to the profession and promotes improved public finance. Entries may be submitted for consideration in one of the following Award for Excellence categories:
Creative Solution to Common Challenge
Exceptionally Well Implemented GFOA Best Practice
Criteria examined when considering an application for the award include: local significance and value, technical significance, transferability, documentation, the cost/benefit analysis, efficiency, originality, and durability.
Only governmental entities are eligible for award. Anyone is eligible to nominate a governmental entity for consideration. GFOA membership is a requirement to participate. Non-members may also submit entries, but their applications must be sponsored by an active GFOA member. Applicants can also join in conjunction with submitting an entry.
Any innovative or well-implemented project or program that takes the practice of government finance to a higher level is appropriate for submission. Each application must specify the category in which it will be judged (Creative Solution or Best Practice) as identified on the application." www.gfoa.org 03/07/24
